Benefits of habit “Take a break at work”

✓ Helps to rest your mind and refocus
✓ Decreases chances of injury in physical work
✓ Prevents eye strain
✓ Reduces stress
✓ Increases creativity

First step:

2 minutes a day

Progress:

1. Step away from your workspace for 2 minutes. Do this everyday for a week
2. Next week, increase the time spent resting to 4 minutes
3. Keep increasing the resting amount until you feel the benefits

Helpful tips to make it a habit:

✓ Same time is key. Like with any habit, resting needs to happen at the same time to become a habit. We recommend at least once 1,5h before lunch and 2 hours after lunch.
✓ Trigger yourself. Set this app or any other reminder to signal when it’s time to take a break.
✓ Reward yourself. Once you’ve gone 2 weeks with consistent break time, treat yourself with a movie or other activity you’ve been too tired to do after work. You deserve a reward after learning this new habit.

Tips for beginners:

✓ Learn to rest. Whether just stand up and stretch or close your eyes for a bit, find your own way of resting and recharges you for the remaining duration
✓ Don’t feel ashamed. If your workplace looks down on your breaks, try to be sneaky to not get in trouble, but never feel shame for needing a break. It will be much worse if you burn out
✓ Schedule your tasks accordingly. If you have enough control over your time, manage it in a way that would allow you 10 minutes of rest
