Benefits of habit “Stop bragging”

✓ Improves relationships
✓ Improves work ethic
✓ Allows you to notice others
✓ Makes you more approachable
✓ Makes you less narcissistic

First step:

One day a week

Progress:

1. Today, whenever you have a conversation with someone, consciously stop yourself from bragging about something. Do so for one day this week.
2. Next week, spend 2 days without bragging.
3. Keep it up until every day you no longer feel the need to brag about anything.

Helpful tips to make it a habit:

✓ Same time is key. Counting in days, start your once per week practice on the same day, like Monday. That way, a habit will develop faster.
✓ Trigger your mind. Once you’ve taken a decision to stop bragging, start wearing a bracelet or a ring that would signify this decision. It will trigger your memory which would stop you from boasting or worse – exaggerating facts.
✓ Let the app help. Set a reminder to ring every morning with a message that it’s time to stop boasting.
✓ Reward yourself. Once you’ve gone a month of successfully reducing your bragging time, reward yourself by practicing your new habit and gather a group of friends to go out with. You’ll see the difference it’s going to make with your immediate relationships.

Tips for beginners:

✓ Observe yourself. Do you feel left out if people are not admiring you? Do you feel like you’re better than others and need to show it all the time? If so, you might be more narcissistic than you thought. Start figuring out where it comes from and how you could humble yourself.
✓ Relationships. If you notice people rolling their eyes, turning away or smiling sadly as you speak, perhaps you speak too much about yourself and too little about them or situation you’re discussing. Observe yourself of how you speak to others and what thoughts come into your head before you say them. That way, you will think twice before saying anything.
