Helpful tips to make it a habit:
✓ Trigger your mind. While you can’t plan when a lie present itself, you can trigger your mind to keep it in. Use a stress ball or squeeze a fist in your pocket of behind your back when you feel it coming to know it’s time to block.
✓ Let the app help. Set a reminder on this app to ring every morning that today you will say 1 lie less.
✓ Reward yourself. Once you’ve gone a month of successful daily or opportunistic reduction, celebrate by organizing a party and enriching it with some truth or dare.
Tips for beginners:
✓ Observe yourself. Find out when is it that you tend to lie the most. Is it when you tell stories of your life? Do you tend to embellish it a tad? Do you lie on important occasions like job interviews or study assignments? Or maybe you post fake pictures on social media? The key is to figure out when and why you do it and be honest with yourself. Only then you can start controlling your actions and getting this nasty habit out of yourself.
✓ Apologize. If you know anyone in person who you’ve recently lied to and it’s someone you trust, go and apologize to them for being disingenuous. It may work as a form of therapy to finally be honest with others and yourself.
✓ Keep a lie jar or list. Whenever you say a lie, either use a modified version of a swear jar or start a list. It’s a great way to see what the situation is and how much you still have to go to improve it..
